Key ingredients in our festive fruit mince Christmas crack
- Arnott’s Salada Original Crispbread: these lightly salted crackers form the perfect base for your Christmas crack.
- Brown sugar: brown sugar is key to the rich caramel toffee layer of this recipe.
- Coles Finest Fruit Mince Pie Flavour Belgian Milk Chocolate: infused with cinnamon, cloves and candied orange, this chocolate provides all the flavours of a fruit mince pie without you needing to make them.
- Coles Belgian White Chocolate: white chocolate provides added sweetness, but you can use dark chocolate instead of white if you want the Christmas crack to be less sweet.
- Coles Simply Dark Choc Buttons: chocolate buttons add an extra festive touch to this Christmas dessert.
- Coles Christmas Holly Sprinkles: decorate with holly sprinkles for an extra-Christmassy look.
Method
- Step 1Preheat oven to 180C/160C fan forced. Grease a 20cm x 30cm slice pan and line with baking paper, allowing the paper to overhang the 2 long sides. Arrange crispbread over the base of the prepared pan in an even layer.
- Step 2Place the sugar and butter in a small saucepan. Cook, stirring, over medium heat until butter melts and the mixture is smooth. Bring to the boil. Cook, stirring, for 30 seconds or until thickened slightly.
- Step 3Pour the sugar mixture evenly over the crispbread and level with a spatula. Place in the oven and bake for 5 minutes or until the sugar mixture is bubbling. Set aside to cool.
- Step 4Dollop three-quarters of the fruit mince pie chocolate and three-quarters of the white chocolate over the sugar mixture layer, then tap the pan on the bench to level the surface. Fill any gaps with the remaining melted chocolates, then tap the pan again to level the surface. Use a skewer to create a marble effect in the chocolate. Stand for 20 minutes until half-set.
- Step 5Using the image as a guide, decorate your crack with chocolate buttons and holly leaf and berry sprinkles to form little “puddings”. Place in the fridge for 2 hours or until set. Cut the crack into pieces or break into shards, to serve. Watch our step-by-step video below to see how to make our chocolate Christmas pudding crack recipe.
